Cheney Wins Two Titles at Senior Tennis Event
Dodo Cheney of Santa Monica won two titles at the USTA National Hardcourt Championships Saturday at Leisure World.
Cheney, top-seeded, defeated Sheila Evans of Indianapolis, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, to win the 75 singles title. She also teamed with Evans to win the 75 doubles title, defeating Jean Harris of Carmel and L.T. Shank-Ku of San Francisco, 6-1, 6-0.
In 65 singles, June Gay of Piedmont beat Elaine Mason of Fresno, 6-3, 6-7, 6-2, for the title. Peggy Landtroop of Dallas and Jeanne Garrett of San Diego beat Mason and Gay for the doubles title, 6-4, 6-4.
