Barrett Better Off Ignored

Share

Today, I am ashamed to be an American. I am a resident in a community that in the past year has seen notoriety undeserving of our city.

On Sept. 12, a permitted rally by a white separatist was launched at the Simi Valley courthouse. One guy and one supporter show up, with a permit, to exercise their freedom of speech and they are met by thousands of counter-protesters. Counter-protesters from Los Angeles, from Woodland Hills, Canoga Park, Torrance, Carson, Thousand Oaks, and worst of all, Simi Valley. Why should two individuals of an adverse opinion deserve all this attention? And who was assaulted? Law enforcement personnel called in to simply do their job.

To all of you who think you succeeded in stopping what the organizer of this rally was trying to accomplish, the joke is on you. By giving him the time of day, you did all the work. Don’t people understand that movements such as this rely on upheaval within the community, and if they are ignored at this level, that they will most likely cease to exist?
