Park Support Is Praised

Hats off to Congressman Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Los Angeles). He’s captured $13.2 million this year to save land in the Santa Monica Mountains as public parkland for us, our children and future generations. Our mountain park was created by Beilenson’s legislation and every year he leads the charge to assemble our park, piece by piece.
Paramount Ranch, Cheseboro Canyon and Rancho Sierra Vista are only three of the parks that we can now enjoy, thanks to Beilenson’s ability to get Congress to allocate parkland money for this area. For many Angelenos, the mere sight of uninterrupted ridges and massive oaks adds to the quality of their life. For hikers and equestrians, the parks provide a recreational outlet and a respite from their workweek. For wildlife, the parks provide life itself.
Even in these economic hard times, purchasing parkland remains an excellent investment. Thank you, Tony Beilenson, for providing our community the ability to preserve its natural heritage.
