A Cypress man crashed through a window of his second-story apartment to escape three robbers early Monday, police said.

The 29-year-old man cut his neck on broken glass when he landed on the grass below and then scrambled to a neighbor’s house to call police, Sgt. Sandy Stanton said.

Blaine Heany was in stable condition at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital, a spokeswoman said, as police searched for three men who fled the Walker Street apartment.

Police said the three had given Heany a ride home from the intersection of Beach Boulevard and La Palma Avenue in Buena Park. Heany told police he knew at least one of the men, Stanton said, but investigators couldn’t get further information because Heany went into surgery.

After Heany and the men entered his apartment, at least one of the robbers pulled a knife and demanded money, Stanton said.

Heany jumped from the second-story window of his apartment to escape, as the men grabbed stereo equipment, a television and jewelry, Stanton said.

The robbers fled in a red Hyundai with Illinois license plates that were reported as IDA530 or 1DA530, police said.
