After a 20-minute conversation with Alonzo Mourning’s agent, Charlotte Hornet President Spencer Stolpen said he is less confident that the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft will be signed by the start of training camp on Friday.
“I have some reservations,” Stolpen said. “That has nothing to do with our offer. It’s external forces.”
Stolpen would not elaborate, but agent David Falk reiterated that Mourning will not sign for the $2.1-million first-year salary the Hornets have offered.
