Adage Increases Stake in Gateway

Share

Adage Inc., an East Coast maker of paper products and electronic circuit boards, has increased its stake in Irvine-based Gateway Communications to 15.8% of the common stock. In a filing this week with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Adage said it purchased 224,500 shares of Gateway stock for $1.56 to $1.63 each, bringing its total holdings to 761,800 shares.

Robert Cahill, chief executive of Adage, said the company has acquired its stake in Gateway, which makes adapters for local area networks. LANs allow personal computers to exchange data in a network.

Cahill said in August that Gateway’s network technology would add synergy to Adage’s recently acquired division in Florida, Relm Communications Inc., a maker of electronic circuit boards for computers. He would not comment further.
