Show of Support: Elton John, long a supporter of AIDS causes in the United Kingdom, will donate profits from his next single and video, “The Last Song,” to six AIDS charities in the United States. “I’ve been doing this in England for quite a while. It’s about time I started making similar contributions here,” the pop singer said at a press conference in New York. In addition, all of his artist’s royalties from the sale of future singles released in America will be donated to AIDS charities in the United States. MCA Records is making an initial $100,000 advance donation on the profits of “The Last Song” to the AIDS groups.
