NO MORE IMPORTS? It’s been a tough year for the Red Cross in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Willing donors are plentiful, but the Red Cross is so financially strapped it has had to lay off nurses and close down many collection stations. . . . The result: A drastic drop in donations; more than 100,000 pints of blood had to be imported this year from other states. But finances are picking up, and officials hope for a better year in donations.
