Winless Loara Turns Game Over to El Modena

El Modena took advantage of six turnovers, turning them all into touchdowns, and defeated winless Loara, 48-10, Friday night in a nonleague game at El Modena.

Ernie Wilson rushed for 114 yards and four touchdowns to power the Vanguards (3-2). Wilson scored on runs of two, three and 12 yards in the first half and 16 yards early in the second half.

Wilson’s final touchdown was set up by his 54-yard kickoff return. It was the only Vanguard touchdown which was not set up by a turnover.

Ryan Hughes recovered two fumbles while Ryan Holmes and Steve Krishfield also recovered fumbles. Tyler Wood and Mike Seltzer intercepted passes.

Bill Milligan of Loara kicked a 27-yard field goal on the final play of the first half to cut the Vanguard lead to 21-3. Denison Dawson scored the only Loara touchdown late in the contest when he took a screen pass and turned it into a 77-yard touchdown play.

El Modena also scored on a 19-yard pass from Matt Mitchell to Casey Shrine and runs by Jason Thomas and Bret Daeley.
