Sinead O’Connor Speaks: Sinead O’Connor speaks candidly about religion, feminism and child abuse in the Oct. 29 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. She also offers her opinions on something that hits home--L.A. On the riots: “I thought it was great . . . I thought it was time something happened and that people had some expression at last. I think it’s a shame that some people went so far as to kill other people, although I understand that people are in so much pain that they don’t know how to stay in control.” She called the riots a “cleansing experience,” and said she thinks a lot of good has come of them. Commenting on her own experience with L.A., O’Connor called the city “a hotel people check into for material success.” O’Connor made headlines last week when she tore up a photo of the Pope on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” But on Saturday, actor Joe Pesci literally patched things up when he appeared on the show holding the Pope’s photo pasted back together.
