Projections Give Iliescu Victory

BUCHAREST, Romania —
President Ion Iliescu was projected to win a runoff election Sunday that pitted the former Communist minister against a reformist challenger for the presidency, state radio reported early today.
Iliescu had 58.05% of the vote compared with 41.95% for Emil Constantinescu, according to the projections. Final results are expected later in the week.
