Two From County Advance in Wheelchair Tennis Event
Brad Parks of San Clemente and Dan Lachman of Corona del Mar advanced in men’s singles of the U.S. Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships Tuesday at the Irvine Racquet Club.
Parks, seeded third, defeated 10th-seeded David Hall of Australia, 6-4, 6-4, in a third-round match. Lachman defeated Rick Cooper of Southlake, Tex., 6-7, 6-2, 6-2, in second-round play.
Also Tuesday, fourth-seeded Nancy Olson of Stony Point, N.Y., the only American remaining in women’s singles, defeated Ellen DeLange of the Netherlands, 6-4, 7-5, in the quarterfinals.
Olson will play in the semifinals today at noon against top-seeded and defending U.S. Open champion Monique van den Bosch of the Netherlands.
