Brea Mall Revs Up Buses: As Orange County considers the future of mass transit, one type of public conveyance is being seen more often: the mall bus.

Brea’s mall has joined South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and MainPlace/Santa Ana in offering minibus service from Anaheim hotels.

“The shuttle not only gives visitors the chance to shop Brea Mall, but it also gives them a chance to fill their day with all the great amenities Brea has to offer,” said Susan Barden, Brea Mall’s marketing director.

South Coast Plaza pioneered the mall bus concept locally. The program has been so successful that mall officials credit much of the shopping mecca’s growth in sales to visitors brought in on the mall bus.

The buses are extraordinarily successful because many visitors considering a shopping trip a part of their vacation. Several entertainment companies, including Walt Disney Co., have included mall stops on their package-tour itineraries.
