Compton : Public Hearing Set Nov. 12 on Card Casino Proposal
A public hearing to decide whether Compton should allow the construction of a card casino will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 12 in the City Council chambers, 205 S. Willowbrook Ave.
A joint hearing by the City Council and the Urban Community Development Commission will address resolutions to approve a development agreement and give a card club license to Compton Entertainment Inc. If approved, the company would begin construction of a seven-acre, $9-million “entertainment center” in the city’s near-empty auto plaza. Developers contend that the gaming club would bring $10 million annually into the city.
The development would include two restaurants, a bar and nightclub surrounding the card casino.
