A summary of significant Los Angeles City Hall actions affecting the Westside in the last week.

CITY COUNCIL

LAX PLANNER: Approved the hiring of a planner to revise the master plan and prepare an environmental impact report for Los Angeles International Airport due to the rapid growth of the airport and the need for traffic mitigation measures. The position pays $61,810 a year.

BLOCK PARTY: Councilwoman Ruth Galanter has requested that Pacific Avenue between Wade Street and Frances Avenue in Mar Vista be closed from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday for the Pacific Avenue Neighborhood Watch Block Party.

APPOINTMENT: Approved the appointment of Susan Romeo to the Productivity Commission, which makes recommendations about how the city can operate more efficiently, for a term that will end in March, 1996. Romeo replaces Dr. Kosaku Yoshida. Romeo lives in West Los Angeles.

WALK OF FAME: Approved adding the name of producer Arthur Cohn to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A ceremony for Cohn is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at 7000 Hollywood Blvd., next to the Roosevelt Hotel.

HOW THEY VOTED

How Westside representatives voted on selected issues.

SETTLEMENT: Approved spending $575,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by the family of Aubrey Askey, who died of injuries suffered in a collision with a city fire truck at Figueroa Street and Jefferson Boulevard in November, 1986. Passed: 12-0.

VOTING YES: Marvin Braude, Ruth Galanter, Nate Holden and Mark Ridley-Thomas. John Ferraro, Michael Woo and Zev Yaroslavsky were absent.

REDISTRICTING: Approved the latest redistricting of the 15 council districts within the city of Los Angeles. Passed: 12-1.

VOTING YES: Braude, Ferraro, Galanter, Ridley-Thomas and Yaroslavsky. Holden voted no. Woo was absent.

COMING UP AT CITY COUNCIL

SCHOOL REDISTRICTING: On Friday, the council is expected to discuss a redistricting plan for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
