O.C. Group to Honor Developer: Developer John D. Lusk will be the inaugural honoree at the Orange County Building Industry Assn.’s Tribute to Excellence awards dinner at the Irvine Marriott hotel Monday.

Lusk, chairman and chief executive of Lusk Co. in Newport Beach, is considered one of the giants of the development industry in California.

He began in 1946 as a custom-home builder in Beverly Hills and Brentwood-Bel Air. To date his company has built nearly 40,000 homes and developed more than 5,000 acres of commercial and industrial properties.

William Lyon, founder and chairman of William Lyon Co., is scheduled to serve as master of ceremonies for the 7 p.m. event.
