Eight people are seeking two seats on the San Juan Capistrano City Council in the Nov. 3 election.
Collene Thompson Campbell
Age: 59.
Occupation: Businesswoman; administrator.
Background: Former member of city Planning Commission; justice reform advocate.
Issues: Wants open forum on development of the downtown; contends that city should create business opportunities to increase revenues; supports strong law enforcement; seeks to stem rise in crime in South County.
Elizabeth T. Fauskin
Age: 62.
Occupation: Office assistant in county assessor’s office.
Background: Member of Friends of San Juan Capistrano Library; graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills; teaching credential from UC Irvine.
Issues: Wants the downtown preserved as it is; seeks more austere operation of City Hall; supports reducing salaries of city department heads; supports slow growth.
Robert A. Hagstrom
Age: 43.
Occupation: U.S. Postal Service employee.
Background: Master’s degree in public administration from Western New England College; retired from the U.S. Air Force.
Issues: Wants to lure more tourists and business to downtown; supports decreased city spending; contends that council should have a more equitable balance of representatives of local business and residents.
Jerry V. Harris

Stanley V. Kensic

Darlene R. Perreault

Issues: Wants the downtown preserved without development; supports historical park in the downtown; wants continued study on relocation of trash hauler.
