CHESS RESULTS : Spassky Wins, Cuts Fischer Lead to 7-4

Boris Spassky gained a little ground Thursday in his $5-million rematch with Bobby Fischer by beating the controversial U.S. chess star in 43 moves, reducing Fischer’s lead to 7-4.

The match, now being played in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, will be won by the first player to win 10 games. The 21st game is scheduled for Saturday. The moves of Thursday’s game are listed below.
