SUN VALLEY : Residents Urged to Tell Agency of Odor

Share

Los Angeles City Councilman Ernani Bernardi on Friday urged Sun Valley residents to complain directly to anti-pollution officials to ensure that strong steps are taken to curtail foul odors at a wood recycling plant.

The South Coast Air Quality Management District must have “complete information about the existence of the continuing problem if we are going to be able to seek full enforcement of the law and protect the public,” Bernardi said in a news release.

Bernardi’s aides said the councilman is reacting to complaints from constituents about “noxious odors” emanating from the Milestone Energy plant, 12456 Branford St. No Milestone officers or employees could be reached for comment.

Ann Roberts, a schoolteacher who lives less than one mile from the plant, said she and her neighbors have experienced sore throats and nausea since the plant began operating in July.
