COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI Women Lose in Sweep in Volleyball

Julie Pitois had 13 kills to help UC Santa Barbara to a three-game sweep of UC Irvine in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match Friday at Irvine.

Teammate Kristie Ryan contributed 12 kills and 18 digs for Santa Barbara, which won, 15-6, 15-3, 15-8. UCSB (11-5, 6-3 in conference) had a total of 11 team blocks compared to UCI’s four.

Scotleen Risley and Popi Edwards each had nine kills for UCI (9-9, 3-7).

In another Big West Conference women’s volleyball match:

Cal State Long Beach 3, Cal State Fullerton 0--Nichole Burton had 11 kills for Long Beach (15-1, 8-0), which won, 15-5, 15-2, 15-2. Fullerton is 0-14, 0-8.
