CUBAN TIME WARP
I am compelled to respond to Antonio Bernal’s letter, published on Sept. 20, regarding Andres Oppenheimer’s book “Castro’s Finest Hour.”
I had to pinch myself and look at my calendar after I read this letter to make sure I hadn’t gone through some kind of time warp.
True, everyone may have an education in Cuba. “Two plus two is four. . . . The revolution gives us everything. Four plus four is eight . . . . Down with Yankee Imperialist Mafia pimps and drug runners.”
As far as having two guaranteed meals a day, the only thing there is to eat in Cuba is what Benal is trying to feed us: tired, old Bolshevik-style rhetoric.
Wake up and smell the cafe.
