Questioning Age Discrimination

A 52-year-old aerospace worker, Ira Galor, lost his job nine months ago and he can’t find another one, presumably with a salary close to the $58,000 that he was making as an engineer, “Fired At Fifty” (Sept 20).

So now he says that he is being discriminated against because he is too old.

Give me a break! If he won’t work for less money, then no one will want to touch him with a 10-foot pole.

For nearly $60,000, a company could hire four people at $15,000 apiece. I work for a temporary agency that pays $6 to $8 an hour for office workers, and believe me--older people get as much work as the younger ones.
