Case of the Illiterate 5th-Grader
I feel I must write about the mother who is suing the Santa Ana schools because her son cannot read.
She, as a parent, must accept responsibility for her son’s problem. Did she not know he was not reading? After all, he is in the fifth grade. Why wasn’t she aware of this earlier? Having her son read to her could have helped him learn to read.
Let us not always blame schools and teachers for our own shortcomings.
