In yet another carjacking, a young man armed with a handgun forced an elderly couple out of their 1990 Cadillac in front of a supermarket in Del Cerro late Friday, police said.

A witness who observed the incident, which occurred about 9:24 p.m. in front of the Stump’s market in the 6300 block of Del Cerro Boulevard, told police he saw a young man commit the holdup and drive away in the Cadillac, followed closely by four companions in a white van.

The elderly couple, in their 70s, were uninjured, police said.

The witness was able to keep police abreast of the suspects’ whereabouts, investigators said. At a nearby park, the suspects abandoned the two vehicles and police caught two juveniles after a short foot chase. The three others remained at large Saturday.

Police booked the two suspects into Juvenile Hall on two counts of armed robbery and one count of auto theft. Because they are under 18, their names are not being released.

Investigators said Saturday that the five were suspected of robbing a house in the 4700 block of Seminole Drive shortly before 9 p.m. Friday. The items taken from that address were a wallet and beer.
