Liley’s 19 Kills Help U.S. Win in Volleyball

Westminster’s Tammy Liley had 19 kills and three aces to lead the U.S. national volleyball team to a 12-15, 15-1, 15-11, 15-13 victory over the Cuba national team, which won the 1992 Olympic gold medal, in the second round of the Hong Kong Cup.

Liley, who graduated from Ocean View High, is a two-time Olympian and one of five returnees from the 1992 Olympic bronze medal team. The United States will conclude play today when it meets the Commonwealth of Independent States in the third round of the round-robin tournament.
