COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI’s Water Polo Winning Streak Now At 9

UC Irvine, ranked fifth in the nation, extended its winning streak to nine matches with water polo victories over No. 7 UC Santa Barbara and No. 17 UC Riverside Sunday at Heritage Park.

Steve Gill had four goals and Mark Stevenson three in a 13-3 rout of UCSB in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match.

In the second match, Gill scored five goals in the second half to help Irvine rally from a 2-1 deficit and beat Riverside for a 9-4 nonconference victory.

The Anteaters improved to 12-6 and 7-1 in conference.

In the UCLA men’s soccer tournament:

Davidson 4, Cal State Fullerton 0--Davidson (8-2-3), which won the round-robin tournament, scored four second-half goals to beat the Titans (9-3). Fullerton’s Ken Hesse and Ricky Rodriguez were named to the all-tournament team.
