Pavarotti Tunes Up: Tenor Luciano Pavarotti assured reporters in San Diego Wednesday that there is nothing wrong with his voice and he will be singing live for his concert tonight in the San Diego Sports Arena. At a midday press conference, the singer acknowledged he lip-synced a Sept. 27 concert in Modena, Italy, a move that prompted the British Broadcasting Corp., which aired the program, to ask for some money back. “We had only 24 hours to put together the concert, so we decided to lip-sync,” Pavarotti explained. “If they want their money back, I’m willing to do it. What we did once, we did wrong.” Pavarotti said he just did five performances of “Tosca” at Covent Garden “and they were wonderful.”
