West San Gabriel Valley : Sex Assault Reward Fund

Share

County supervisors voted to set up a $10,000 reward fund for the apprehension of the man or men responsible for recent sexual assaults on two women.

On Oct 1, a 73-year-old woman was raped in her San Gabriel home. Several days later, a 75-year-old jogger was attacked at San Gabriel High School in Alhambra.

Although they have no proof, police from the two cities believe that the attacks are related.

The supervisors’ announcement brings the reward offered in the two cases to $16,000. The Alhambra school board established a $5,000 reward fund, and one board member contributed an additional $1,000 to the fund.

Since the announcement of the school board’s reward, Alhambra Police have been flooded with tips.

“We’ve had a tremendous outpouring from the community--a lot of information has come in--but there’s nothing solid yet,” Sgt. Jeffrey Powell said.
