Glendale : Bootleg Discs Seized

Share

More than 8,700 bootlegged compact discs with a potential street value of more than $218,000 were seized from a Glendale apartment last week, and the tenant was arrested on suspicion of making illegal recordings, authorities said.

Glendale Police Sgt. James Fitzgerald said Monday that documents indicate that Ali Moghadam, 26, made more than 20,000 unauthorized compact discs. The discs featured a range of music, including heavy metal, rock ‘n’ roll and solo artists. Many of the discs featured illegal recordings of artists during live concerts abroad, Fitzgerald said.

Police said the seizure was the largest confiscation of bootlegged compact discs in Southern California. The discs were targeted for distribution at swap meets and in some music stores, officers said.
