From Staff and Wire Reports

Mike Modano, the Minnesota North Stars’ 22-year-old center, signed a four-year, $6.75-million contract, making him the highest-paid player in team history.

Modano, who was to be paid $600,000 as part of a deal he renegotiated last year, will instead make $1.95 million this year--including a $750,000 signing bonus. The contract calls for a $1.4-million salary in 1993-94, $1.6 million in 1994-95 and $1.8 million in the final year.
