The emergency room at St. John’s Regional Medical Center will close at 7 a.m. Saturday as part of the hospital’s move to a new facility.

People in need of emergency services should go to the hospital’s new facility at North Rose Avenue and Gonzales Road in Oxnard.

Starting at 9 a.m., the center’s staff will move 150 patients from its 80-year-old hospital on F Street to its newly built, $110-million hospital three miles away. The move will take six to eight hours. Rehabilitation services will remain open at the F Street site.

Patients will be transported via 3rd Street to Rose Avenue, where they will enter the new hospital.

Rita Schumacher, a spokeswoman for St. John’s, said the hospital is “asking people to stay clear of both hospitals and the move route on Saturday” unless they have a medical emergency.

“Our first priority is the safe transport of our patients,” Schumacher said.
