COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Chapman Breaks Shutout Record as Irvine Wins

Carmen Morell scored two goals and goalkeeper Amee Chapman posted her eighth shutout of the season to lead UC Irvine to a 5-0 victory over California Baptist Thursday at Irvine.

Chapman had no saves but recorded her 13th career shutout, breaking the school record. Alicia Miller had 12 from 1988 to 1990.

Shawna Berke, Katie Ralph and Jaycee Leitner also scored for the Anteaters (8-7-2) against Cal Baptist (4-13-1), which fielded only 10 players.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer:

Southern California College 4, Christ College Irvine 2--Carlos Miramontes had three goals, including two in the first half, and teammate Chris Chaparro had a goal and an assist for host SCC (10-6-1, 3-2-1). Eddie Huerta had three saves for Christ College Irvine (2-13-1, 0-5-1).

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Biola 3, Southern California College 0--Jayna Auer each had five kills and nine digs for host SCC (5-16), which lost, 15-9, 15-3, 15-13. Biola is 13-11.
