The thought of playing with his broken hand in a cast reminded defensive lineman Keith Millard of his previous knee injuries and drove him to retirement.
"I'm not going to play with pain and injuries any more," he said Friday. "There's just no way I feel I can play with this injury at the level I need to to perform. If you can't perform, I don't believe you should collect your check."
The Green Bay Packers acquired him Oct. 1 after he was waived by Seattle. He broke his right hand in last Sunday's game against Cleveland.
