Mixing Christianity and Election Politics

Share

The new revelations that have come to religionist Lou Sheldon of the fundamendalist Traditional Values Coalition are ever more evidence of the disastrous mistake of the 1992 Republican-Christian Coalition Alliance (“Rev. Sheldon Urges Believers to Vote GOP,” Oct. 7).

Not only does religionist Republican Sheldon have the gall to tell all Christians that it is their duty to vote Republican on Nov. 3, religionist Sheldon now is telling Jews and Muslims that he is speaking for their God too!

When will it finally become obvious even to some conservative Republicans that this new mix of fundamentalist politico-religionist cultist Sheldon does not speak for their Christian God. He does not speak for Allah or anyone else.

Sheldon is nothing more than a minister of hate and should have been a social embarrassment to the Republican leadership long ago.

That Sheldon was a spokesman at the Republican National Convention in Texas was shocking. That not one Republican candidate for public office has denounced Sheldon is shocking. That Republican candidates for public office can’t be “good Republicans” without the endorsement of the hate-filled Republican Sheldon religious group is outrageous!

A big message needs to be sent to the Republican leadership on Nov. 3 by all voters who believe that hate, bigotry, and prejudice do not belong in the world of elected public servants.
