Joel Barr
I read your article on Joel Barr (Oct. 14) and it made me livid on how this scumbag is remorseful over his sins of spying for Russia and wants to “re-establish his American citizenship.” I am also appalled at the fact that the very government this man betrayed is paying him $244 a month in Social Security benefits. To put the icing on the cake, Barr claims to be a “resident” of California and gets entitlements that nearly double his pension. This is wrong.
If a man chooses to betray his country and seeks asylum in a country that has been a potential adversary, then he should relinquish all claims to any pensions from his country. There ought to be a law that would stop this stupidness.
