Alpharel’s Profit Falls in 3rd Quarter

Alpharel Inc., a Camarillo maker of document-imaging systems for computerized storage and retrieval, said its third-quarter profit fell to $33,000 from $365,000 a year earlier.

The lower earnings in the quarter ended Sept. 30 came as Alpharel’s revenue edged up 2%, to $1.84 million from $1.80 million a year earlier. Alpharel said that despite the lower earnings, recent contracts totaling $3 million should help the company’s performance next year.

For the first nine months of 1992, Alpharel’s profit tumbled to $155,000 from $1.02 million a year earlier, and its nine-month revenue slipped 5%, to $4.60 million from $4.85 million.
