Mexican Firm Sues AT&T;: A Mexican telecommunications company sued American Telephone & Telegraph Co., alleging that the giant U.S. company induced it to buy obsolete and defective equipment. The suit by Grupo Sistemas Integrales de Telecomunicacion seeks more than $490 million in damages and also names Harris Corp. as a defendant. The suit alleges that both companies induced Grupo SIT to buy the unsuitable equipment for use in a shared satellite communication system in Mexico. It alleges that in an effort to eliminate competition in the Mexican market, the defendants refused to support the project or to interconnect the new Mexican network with AT&T;’s network, known as Skynet.
