Record Food Stamp Fraud Alleged: The government has filed a $120-million civil lawsuit for food stamp fraud against a New York grocery store, the largest ever filed since the program began in 1964, the U.S. Agriculture Department said. The suit against Brooklyn wholesaler Felix Puello, 47, of Puello Meats & Provisions Co., claims that the wholesaler fraudulently redeemed more than $40 million worth of food stamps. The complaint also names as defendants three affiliated firms owned by Puello. The suit seeks treble damages and civil penalties and seeks to impound Puello’s assets, the department said.
