Rainbow Technologies Inc.: The Irvine software protection products company posted a 68% gain in profit for the third quarter to $1.4 million, or 25 cents a share, from $833,000, or 19 cents a share, for the same 1991 period. Sales increased 72% to $8.1 million from $4.7 million. Earnings for the first nine months of 1992 rose 48% to $3.7 million, or 70 cents a share, from $2.5 million, or 61 cents a share. Sales were up 46% to $20.2 million from $13.8 million. The company said Rainbow’s recent acquisition of Microphar S.A. contributed significantly to the results.
