West Covina : Guilty Plea in Carjackings

A West Covina man pleaded guilty Tuesday in Citrus Municipal Court to robbery charges stemming from two local carjackings.

Brian Porter, 20, will be sentenced Nov. 10 in Pomona Superior Court to six years in prison, Deputy Dist. Atty. Randy Harris said.

The charges arose from a carjacking at 5 a.m. Oct. 10 and a second at 11:15 p.m. Friday .

In the first incident, two armed assailants confronted a female employee in the parking lot at Carl’s Junior restaurant in the 400 Block of South Glendora Avenue and drove off with her 1981 Buick.

On Friday, two assailants pointed a shotgun at a male employee in the lot of a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet in the 500 Block of South Glendora Avenue and stole his 1989 Ford Mustang.

Police found the Mustang parked in the back of a nearby apartment complex. Porter and a 15-year-old boy were arrested and linked by witnesses to the first crime. The youth, whose name was withheld, will be tried in Juvenile Court.
