Countywide : Ventura Establishes Pothole Hot Line

Share

Ventura has become the second city in Ventura County to start a 24-hour hot line for residents to report potholes on city streets.

The colder, wetter weather from October through March frequently causes street pavement to become brittle and to crack.

Ventura city workers generally repair about 700 potholes during the six-month period every year, according to Ventura street department officials.

But because residents usually notice the sometimes gaping crevices in their streets before city workers, the city has established a number that residents may call any time of day to report pothole problems.

Thousand Oaks established a hot line last year for residents to report potholes and other problems, such as graffiti.

In Ventura, the pothole hot line number is 652-4590. The number in Thousand Oaks is 498-2761.

In all other cities, residents should report pothole problems directly to the city’s street maintenance department or to City Hall.
