GENE’S GUYS: With former Angel MVP Don Baylor getting the Colorado Rockies job, six former ballplayers who worked for Gene Autry are now major league managers. Five easy ones: Baylor, Jeff Torborg, Bruce Hobson, Jim Fregosi and Buck Rogers. Here’s the sixth: Joe Torre, former Angels TV and radio broadcaster, who now manages the St. Louis Cardinals. . . . Baylor’s name may bring back melancholy memories: His combination of 36 homers and 139 RBIs in 1979 is a stat that no Angel has matched since.
