14 Striking Drywallers Arrested

Share

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies arrested 14 striking drywall workers Friday near the same Palmdale construction site where 21 others were arrested earlier in the week for trespassing.

The workers blocked a street at 7 a.m. leading to a construction site in the 39800 block of Milan Drive, Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Denham said. When a foreman asked the workers to move, he was shoved by one of the men.

The foreman made citizen’s arrests and the drywall workers were later taken into sheriff’s custody, Denham said. One man was held on suspicion of battery and 13 were held on suspicion of blocking a public street. The arrests followed the latest in a series of demonstrations in the Antelope Valley by drywall workers.

A Lancaster judge Thursday issued an injunction ordering the strikers not to picket or gather within 100 feet of five sites in Lancaster and Palmdale.
