ORANGE : Police Seek Man Missing Since Sept. 1

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a disabled man who wandered away from his room in an Orange boarding house.

William Robert Kent Cousert, 28, left his room in the 200 block of South Shaffer Street on Sept.1 after a rent dispute with his landlord, said Orange Police Detective Alex Varga.

Cousert has a mild form of cerebral palsy that affects his balance. He also suffers from petit mal seizures which sometimes lead to memory loss. In addition, he has limited social skills, said Marilyn Wiersema, Cousert’s aunt. “He told someone in the house he was going to San Diego, but he doesn’t know anybody there,” Wiersema said.

Wiersema, who lives in Garden Grove, said she has visited all nearby homeless shelters as well as Santa Ana’s Civic Center, seeking her lost nephew.

“He usually calls his mom or someone every so often, but no one has heard anything, nothing at all,” Wiersema said. “I don’t know where else to look.”

Cousert left behind all his belongings, including clothes, money and his most prized possession, a computer. “He just loves his computer,” Wiersema said. “He’s a gifted computer hobbyist.”

Cousert is 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and a mole on his right cheek near his mouth.

“We believe he took to the streets,” Varga said. “But most missing people turn up in a matter of weeks. This man has just disappeared.

“We just want to contact him and make sure he’s OK,” Varga added.
