Spoils of Victory: A Series Share Is $120,000 for Full-Time Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays’ financial reward for winning the World Series totaled $120,000 for a full share.
The Toronto Globe and Mail reported Friday that the full share was given to every full-time member of the club, as well as Rance Mulliniks, Dave Stieb and Ken Dayley, who were injured for most or all of the season.
Pitcher David Cone, acquired Aug. 28 from the New York Mets, received a 40% share, or about $48,000. Jeff Kent, the second basemen sent to the Mets, along with minor league outfielder Ryan Thompson, received 60%, or about $72,000.
Mark Eichhorn, the reliever acquired July 30 from the Angels for outfielder Rob Ducey and catcher Greg Myers, received a 37% share ($44,400). Ducey and Myers each were voted a 62% share ($74,400).
Catchers Ed Sprague, who hit the game-winning homer in Game 2 of the World Series, and Randy Knorr each received a 33% share ($39,600).
