House of Pain’s Erik Shrody just started work on his first film role. He’s playing a bad guy in “Judgment Night,” an urban action drama starring Emilio Estevez that’s due in theaters in the spring. . . . Meanwhile, Estevez’s wife, Paula Adbul, is looking for a film project and won’t have another album until late next year at the earliest. She probably also wants to avoid a clash of album projects with rival Janet Jackson, who’s on the same label and due to have an album next year. . . .

Sounds unlikely, but Don Henley has done the “Guys and Dolls” number “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat” for the soundtrack of the upcoming Steve Martin/Deborah Winger movie “Leap of Faith,” due in theaters in December. Also on the soundtrack album will be Wynonna Judd singing a new Elton John-Bernie Taupin number called “Stone’s Throw From Hurtin’ ” and a gospel rouser by Lyle Lovett. . . . Meat Loaf (who appears in the film) has also contributed his ‘70s hit “Paradise by the Dashboard Light,” though he’ll be doing a new video of the song, which is noteworthy since the original release of the teen epic was one of the first singles helped by a promotional film clip--years before MTV. . . .

R&B; crooner Babyface has finished about half of the follow-up to his multimillion-selling last album. . . . Color Me Badd has a collection of remixes, mostly from its hit debut album, due the end of this month. Look for an album of new material from the group around next summer. . . .

Still no word on tour plans, but Prince is rehearsing his New Power Generation band in his Minneapolis club Glam Slam these days with an eye apparently on live dates. Among the pieces being worked up is the entire first half of the new album, “ ,” as a continuous suite. Incidentally, that is the only official name of the album. The title “Androgynous” has been used in some places after someone at Warner Bros. incorrectly substituted the name on a release sheet. However, Prince has promised to reveal a word for the album title in the final video for the collection--but he’s doing videos for all 17 songs, so don’t hold your breath. . . .

The latest--though not likely last--word on the Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath reunion at Pacific Amphitheatre on Nov. 14 and 15 is that ex-Judas Priest singer Rob Halford will fill in for Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio, who chose to sit this one out. But still expect the Oz to join his old mates for a healthy part of the show. . . . Concrete Blonde, which several years ago attempted to jump from I.R.S. to Geffen Records, has gone to Capitol, though in a joint venture with I.R.S. No word on recording plans. . . .

A new benefit album for Planned Parenthood ought to touch the heart of twentysomethings weaned on new wave. Among the selections on Caroline Records’ “Freedom of Choice: Yesterday’s New Wave Hits by Today’s Stars” are Mudhoney’s version of Elvis Costello’s “Pump It Up,” Sonic Youth doing Plastic Bertrand’s “Ca Plane Pour Moi” and the Connells’ treatment of “I Got You” by Split Enz. Proceeds from the album will benefit Planned Parenthood. . . .
