Boston College Bowls Over Temple : Big East: Dukes rushes for 184 yards and three touchdowns in Eagles’ impressive 45-6 victory.

Chuckie Dukes rushed for 184 yards and three touchdowns in 20 carries, and No. 11 Boston College held Temple to 141 yards in a 45-6 Big East Conference victory Saturday.

Dukes, who gained more than 100 yards for the seventh consecutive game, scored on runs of one, 70, and 43 yards as he brought his season total to 1,024 yards in 172 carries.

Dwight Shirley added a five-yard touchdown run, Justice Smith had a one-yard scoring run and Glenn Foley threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Clarence Cannon for Boston College, which is 7-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Big East. David Gordon added a 28-yard field goal.

Temple (1-7, 0-4) scored on Lew Lawhorn’s 94-yard return of the second-half kickoff, his second touchdown of the season on a kickoff return. He took one 89 yards to score against Washington State.

Boston College had not given up any points at home since early September. Before three recent road games, the Eagles shut out Northwestern, Navy and Michigan State after a season-opening 37-20 home defeat of Rutgers.

Foley, whose passing led Boston College to an upset at Penn State two weeks ago, completed nine of 18 passes for 178 yards, with one touchdown and one interception.

Boston College held Temple to minus seven yards rushing in the first half, when the Eagles built a 28-0 lead.

Officials from the Fiesta, Peach, Hancock and Hall of Fame bowls watched the impressive showing by Boston College in a game that was marred by several fights late in the first half.
