OPEC’s Oil Output Soars: With Iran in the lead, OPEC nations’ oil production last month reached the highest level in a decade, the International Energy Agency said. It estimated the 13-nation cartel’s output at 25.3 million barrels a day, 400,000 barrels a day higher than in September and well over the group’s winter supply cap. OPEC had pledged to hold production steady at the start of cold weather to try to drive crude prices up $1 or $2 a barrel to a target of $21 a barrel. But analysts say Iran, vying for influence with Saudi Arabia, opened its taps wider and others followed.
