* REALLY DRESSED TO KILL: The fashion riddle of the week has to be why Marsha A. Palmer bothered to wear a disguise when she allegedly killed her estranged husband and his girlfriend. Police say that on Halloween night, Palmer showed up at her husband’s home near Anoka, Minn., wearing a black cape and a monster mask. Later that evening, Jeffrey T. Palmer, 35, and Karlene R. White, 27, were found shot to death.

Police went to the house after a woman dialed 911. Investigators listened to a tape of the call and heard muffled shots and the caller saying: “She’s going to kill me.”

Presumably still dressed in her trick-or-treat outfit, Marsha Palmer greeted police at the door and led them to the bodies. “I shot them both; I didn’t mean to kill them,” investigators quoted her as saying. Palmer, 31, was charged earlier this week with two counts of second-degree murder and ordered held without bail.
