Donahue Caught Up in Wave of Change?

Share

While (their significance) was doubtless lost in last week’s 48-12 rout, two plays perfectly summed up the conservatism and lack of preparation that have plagued Terry Donahue-coached teams throughout his tenure:

--UCLA, trailing, 24-0, kicks a field goal on fourth and one from the Cal 10-yard line.

--On fourth and 42, with Cal kicking from its end zone, UCLA roughs the punter, giving the Bears an automatic first down.

Donahue may get a free pass for this season because of injuries, but that’s not an excuse for how poorly coached the Bruins have looked or the prospect of losing seasons three out of the last four years. Taking a page from Bill Clinton, it’s time for a change.
